Hi, is anyone else experiencing very slow video load times? I am using an iPad pro and videos take a long time to load or only load partway. Thanks.
Same here today. Has been much slower than before.
try lower the resolution of it. sometimes it helps me when it goes slow
I have the same issue, Especially when watching through browser (Chrome). On the app it seems a bit better for me (android). This problem persisted ever since the switch to the new website...
I already opened a ticket using the "technical issues" form. The problem is platform independent and probably caused by insufficient buffering. Hope they adjust the way the videos are embedded qickly... Anywho... it's still a new platform and minor infant errors are common since they are pretty hard to find in not operational testing. Let's be patient for 1-2 weeks ;)
@Paul, thanks for the tip, I will try with lower resolution. @Niklas, did you hear back from them, I opened a technical issue with them a couple of days ago but haven't got a response.
@Aaron I actually did hear back. Apparently the reply didn't make it through my spam filter. Videos are hosted by a third party service. I'll try to keep you up to date, in case you don't hear back from the technical guys yourself
@Niklas, thanks for the update, I also got a response, they asked me to run some technical network tests. Will keep this forum posted as well.
I got a similar reply as well, although I do think it's an issue on their end. Watching 4k videos on netflix is no trouble with my internet, but a 720p domino video is an insurmountable challenge somehow
@Max yeah, think so too. However, videos work much better on my (totally over-sized) Laptop (Thinkpad P52) compared to my desk's workstation. So the reason for the lagging is probably not that obvious to find.
FYI it's loading much better for me now (480P on laptop). 1080P still slow to load but much better than before. Let me know if you are experiencing the same now.
same for me!
I switched to 480 resolution but it still sucked
480p still doesn't work as soon as Felix or any person is in the video. Just with the text on green background no issues. I have 100mb download speed at home, so definitely will have to do with Domino's servers. This problem is actually not really new. I have been using this site since it launched and this has been an ongoing issue. Considering it is a central component to the delivery of the course, I hope it is being prioritised and resolved soon.
Not sure what happens with the server, mine went super slow about 2 months ago then got better and useable.....now it more or less unusable again. 1 second of video and then freezes.....I am super fast internet so it is not my end. Really hope they can solve this once and for all.
@Simon and @Sebastian you can try submitting feedback so their tech support can reach out and do a network trace which I think helped them fix the issue for me (if you use a laptop/desktop computer).
Yes have done that previously. Thanks. Fingers crossed video speed increases.
Curiously the videos seems to load well for me today. Maybe they fixed something in their backend now
I think it's very dependent on the time you study. I could load 1080p earlier today and in the evening it was struggling with 420p. So I guess there's a bottleneck on the server side.
Your ISP could be throttling connections to some media servers at busy times of the day. I find that in the morning (China time) connections are faster than in the evening.
Hi,
We have copied all our video content to another video host. On the website please select - "Outside China" as the video quality. This feature will be implemented in the iOS and Android apps in the next update.
Thanks Ifor, works much better for me now!
