Anyone having trouble with the videos?

Hi everyone, I just subscribed and was really excited about the course, but none of the videos will play for me. I have submitted a technical request, but wanted to see if others had the same problem.

Yes, I can't play them either, the servers are probably down. I guess they'll be up again soon.

It looks like the SSL certifcate expired today. Your browser is probably blocking the connection to the domain the videos are hosted on. If you have a browser extension, such as HTTPS Everywhere, turning it off may allow the connection.

I have had the same issue since yesterday while using chrome. It works fine on the domino app on android though... I hope they'll solve the problems soon

Forget that. HTTPS Anywhere on or off will not change anything. You can visit the domain of the videos directly and that should give you a warning in the browser. You can choose to continue 'at your own risk', which will set a security exception. The page should then display 403 Forbidden, but the videos should load from the lesson pages. I just tried it in Firefox.

wow it worked! thank you a lot!

Lee Saunders (大力) 3 years ago

Great! Just don't do that for any website. Remember, it is a security exception not to be used with sites you do not trust.

Omer Faruk Gani 3 years ago

so we can trust dominochinese's website, right?

Lee Saunders (大力) 3 years ago

I think so. The warning is to inform a website visitor that the SSL certificate, the technology that creates https:// (secure and encrypted data transfer) websites has expired or there is something wrong with it, so the encryption is not working. That means all data between your device and the website server is open for anyone with the right equipment/dangerous code to see. You would never accept a banking website that does not use SSL.

Had trouble playing videos with VPN on; if VPN off it works fine

Lee Saunders (大力) 3 years ago

I suppose it depends on the VPN. I've had no issues with the VPN I use.

I have videos dropped every minute or so. Very annoyning; Does not happen with youtube or any other website . Only DOMINO. Tried direct access to video site but I get "403 Forbidden; You don't have permission to access the URL on this server". What is next ? Admin: Can you fix this please ?

I thought I was lucky as no problems since the site upgrade, but today 50% of the videos not playing for me.....I sent feedback.

Hi , I was having similar issues but changed the video setting to 480 and now running perfectly smoothly.

Hope it helps others .

Ryan Varnell 3 years ago

Hopefully things can be up and running agains soon. I'm facing the same issues. Today, I cannot play any videos

Lee Saunders (大力) 3 years ago

It might be a good idea to submit a feedback form (show at the top of the main forum page in the pinkish-red box) to tech support.

Meanwhile: It would be good to include:

  • The device you are using
  • Domino app or web browser
  • country (in case it is a CDN, where the videos come from, problem for a region)
  • VPN (country connected to) or no VPN
  • What is happening (grey box instead of the video)

I think the right thing to do is to refund all members until they resolved this problem. Not far to not provide the service to paying customers.

Lee Saunders (大力) 3 years ago

The original problem (SSL certificate) was resolved quickly. This is a different problem, not the same one from two weeks ago.

The videos are playing as expected where I am in China.

Hello DominoChinese. I can't play videos. I'm using google chrome.

Philipp Eixeres 3 years ago

Had the same problem in Chrome, then tried Edge and Firefox. Only Firefox works with Dominochinese.com as of now. That's fine with me as I am having more and more issues in Chrome with other websites.

Simon Robinson 3 years ago

My Chrome works now, last week it suddenly all worked. So thanks to who ever did that.
